What is Economic Development?
Economic development focuses on generating, attracting and maintaining business activity and/or employment in our region.
Economic development is a key function of Council. The Council Plan 2013-2017 is centred on economic development and population growth in our municipality. Council has also developed a vision for our municipality that will lead us towards 2040.
We are lucky to have a diverse economy in our municipality with key industries such as:
|Government and community services|
Council’s Economic Development Unit
The unit aims to promote economic activity in the Swan Hill Rural City Council by helping business development and investment.
Whether you are starting a new business, or expanding a current one, our Economic Development Unit is a great first point of contact.
We can also help with possible funding sources and funding applications.
Staying up-to-date with economic development
The Economic Development Unit also produces a regular electronic business newsletter. The newsletter lets our business community know about Council’s economic development initiatives and provides useful business news.
