Swan Hill Rural City is an exciting and growing municipality situated in the heartland of the Murray Valley, boasting one of the most diverse and productive rural areas in Australia. The Rural City provides quality educational, hospital and sporting facilities and services, with major population centres in Swan Hill and Robinvale.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer the Manager Aboriginal Affairs will be responsible for the implementation of Council’s Structured Training and Employment Program (STEP) and Aboriginal Partnership Plan projects as well as liaising with other State and Federal Government initiatives.
The position requires sound understanding of the history of Aboriginal community integration strategies and an empathy with, and comprehensive understanding of Aboriginal social and cultural issues relevant to a rural environment.
At a personal level we are looking for exceptional and influential skills in communicating with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and ages. There will be clear evidence of the ability to deal with a variety of complex issues and projects concurrently and a commitment to outcomes.
