MENTOR – CONNECTUS PROGRAM
Connectus is a unique program offering real employment opportunities for young people to obtain and remain in employment through traineeships or new apprenticeships. The Connectus Mentor is a new role within Council, and will be the primary provider of support and training to twenty-five Connectus program participants, whilst liaising with local employers to identify employment and education opportunities. The Program will initially involve an eight week period of training, four industry events and an educational camp, followed by the placement of participants into employment and educational opportunities, under the continued guidance and direction of the Mentor.
The position requires understanding and experience in working with youth issues, and identifying career pathways for young people ‘at risk’, demonstrated capacity to establish networks in the youth, employment and corporate sectors and knowledge of Aboriginal culture and acceptance by the local Aboriginal community.
The position will initially be offered on a full time basis commencing Monday, 6 October 2008 to implement the eight week Program. From Monday, 1 December 2008 hours will reduce to one day (7.6 hours) per week to oversee ongoing employment placement of participants.
Salary: $1,050.87 per week full time
