Swan Hill Region Community Capacity Project
(2 year placement)
The Pacific Seasonal Worker Pilot Scheme will assist our region with labour shortages in the horticultural industry. Workers will come from four Pacific nations, Tonga, Kiribati, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea. The scheme is founded on the principal of mutual benefits for farmers and the workers from the Pacific.
The Local Swan Hill Advisory Group is committed to assisting the Swan Hill community in its participation in the PSWPS. This community development project will focus on building the capacity of our community to work together towards common goals that will promote mutual understanding and mutual respect between the local community and the Pacific Island workers participating in the scheme.
The project will focus on identifying skills within our communities that will assist and promote community members to participate with the workers and strengthen the links to mainstream and community services.
The Community Project Worker will be appointed for two years to manage the community engagement strategy and a communications plan in line with current Council practices. The Community Project Worker will focus in particular on agricultural industry groups, local churches, health providers and sporting and social groups.
Salary: Attracting approximately $1050.00 per week ($54,645.42 per annum), this is a temporary full time position for 2 years.
