PERFORMING ARTS DIRECTOR

Swan Hill Rural City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking individual to take on the demanding role of Performing Arts Director.

 

Sitting within Council's Cultural Development team, this role includes the programming, management and development of the Performing Arts Program and the leadership and management of the annual Fairfax Festival, within a Local Government environment. 

 

Other duties and responsibilities include:

 

-          audience development

-          policy and procedure development

-          marketing, promotion and public relations

-          committee member of Pioneers Week and the Go North Arts Festival

-          development and maintenance of relevant business plan

-          community consultation

-          liaison with private and public stakeholders

-          develop and maintain relationships with local arts and cultural groups

-          attendance at relevant performing arts events to assist in programming

-          staff management, and budget preparation and management

-          OH&S

 

The program receives some funding from Arts Victoria, and will require meeting of reporting requirements in addition to community and audience consultation to ascertain satisfaction levels.

 

The successful applicant will have a high level of enthusiasm for the Performing Arts, excellent public relations and communication skills, combined with financial and other Local Government responsibilities.  The ability to liaise and work with the local community and cultural groups is also essential.  A current Drivers Licence and the ability to obtain a successful Working with Children Check and Police Check is also required.

Salary – this is a full time position within Council attracting approximately $59,960 per annum, excluding overtime.
