Swan Hill Rural City Council's Volunteer Support Program is extending an invitation to all community organisations, clubs and services to attend a free Community Volunteer Skillsbank database workshop tomorrow (27 October).

The Volunteer Skillsbank aims to assist volunteer organisations in a number of ways, including sourcing volunteers, management of volunteers, training opportunities for community organisations and much more.

Council's Volunteer Support Officer Jenny Astall said the computer course would demonstrate how the Volunteer Skillsbank database worked and how it can help volunteer organisations in the region.

“The aim of the Community Volunteer Skillsbank is not only to aid our volunteer organisations in finding the right person, it is also an ideal way to promote community awareness of an organisation and to support other volunteers,” Ms Astall said.

“This workshop will enable our volunteers to learn about the Community Volunteer Skillsbank and to also discover what benefits it can bring their community organisation.”

A choice of two Volunteer Skillsbank sessions are available, session one will be held between 4pm to 6.30pm and session two from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Both sessions will be held on Tuesday, 27 October 2009 at the Swan Hill Sunraysia Institute of TAFE computer room.

Volunteers or community organisations who would like to know more about the Volunteer Skillsbank Training can contact Jenny Astall at Council on 5036 2380 or 0428 573 057.
