The Nyah Recreation Reserve Focus Group is another step closer in developing a plan for the upgrades to the kitchen and bar facilities at the Reserve after a meeting was held on Wednesday, 14 October.
A visit from Ballarat-based company Thomas Catering to the Reserve during October has given the Focus Group a further indication of the types of equipment and upgrades that might be included in the plan. The company will continue to work with the group to determine options for improved catering for large functions and develop a draft concept plan.
The initial consultation comes after the recent Central Murray Football League Votecount was held at the Reserve.
Whilst the Votecount was held successfully, it has provided organisers with a better indication of what upgrades are needed to establish the Recreation Reserve as a Conference Centre to cater for an increased number of patrons.
The information from organisers of the Votecount along with the kitchen and bar facilities upgrade plans has been given to the Focus Group for further investigation.
The Focus Group will continue to work on the development of a concept plan for the Reserve and begin to determine the funding sources to apply to for the renovations.
Another topic of interest has been the possibility of the introduction of gym facilities for the community at the Reserve.
Working with Council, the group have developed a survey which has been distributed to the public via the Local Link newsletter.
The Focus Group are encouraging all those residents in the Nyah District to have their say and fill out the gym facilities survey which can be found on Council's website at www.swanhill.vic.gov.au.
All surveys are required to be submitted to Council by Friday, 13 November 2009. The Focus Group will then review the surveys and report back to the community on the outcome.
