Swan Hill Rural City Council is reminding ratepayers that if they do not agree with the valuation assigned to their property they may lodge an objection.

The valuation objection forms must be lodged with Council by close of business on Monday, 16 November 2009.

Council's Customer Service and Revenue Manager Tony Heffer said ratepayers were entitled to lodge an objection if they disagreed with the valuation attributed to their property.

“A ratepayer can lodge their objection provided an objection was not lodged last financial year. This is due to the Valuation of Land Act stipulating a valuation can only be objected to once,” Mr Heffer said.

Residents are able to obtain the objection form from Council's Splatt Street offices or via the Swan Hill Rural City Council website at www.swanhill.vic.gov.au.

“We specifically remind residents requesting a review of their valuation to ensure they lodge these objection forms by the 16 November this year, as no forms can be accepted after this date,” Mr Heffer said.

Ratepayers who have any queries relating to their rate notice can contact Council's Rates Department on 5036 2333.
