The Swan Hill Toyota 2009/2010 New Year's Eve Committee is thrilled to announce that they have secured top Melbourne cover band Farren Jones to perform at the New Year's Eve celebrations at Riverside Park.
Farren and his four-piece band will be supported by local bands Next Generation, Wonderland Project as well as a number of young local bands.
New Year's Eve Co-ordinator Nathan Keighran said the event, like last year's celebrations, would focus on being a friendly, fun and family-orientated evening.
“The success of last year's celebrations illustrates how important it is to be able to celebrate New Year's Eve with family and friends in a relaxed and safe environment,” he said.
The focus for this year's celebration will again centre on family entertainment, with free children's amusement rides, carnival activities and children's/family fireworks at 9.30 pm as well as quality, live entertainment.
Family-friendly comedian Kevin Kropinyeri will MC the night as well as provide stand-up comedy during the event.
Once again, the evening will conclude with the now famous midnight fireworks.
Mr Keighran encouraged people to come along to Riverside Park to get the best seats in the house to capture and appreciate the full effects of this year's fireworks.
“We would love to see people come down the park, celebrate the New Year and enjoy the family-friendly atmosphere of the event,” he said.
“The 9.30pm family fireworks will incorporate activities and infrastructure at the park, including the sound shell and stage, while the midnight display will illuminate the Swan Hill skyline.”
Prices for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for school-aged children, with free entry for children under five years of age. Family passes are also available (two adults, two children) at the cost of $20.
Increased security measures including identification wristbands, dry area zones, improved lighting and a zero tolerance to unruly behaviour, will ensure patrons have a safe and pleasant evening.
This year's event will also include a separate entry lane for patrons who have purchased their tickets prior to the event to reduce delays on the night.
Tickets to the Swan Hill Toyota 2009/2010 New Year's Eve Celebrations can be purchased at the Swan Hill Information Centre from Tuesday, 1 December 2009.
The event is BYO and no glass containers will be permitted into Riverside Park. Gates open at 6pm.
