Council's Volunteer Support Training Program's latest course in Food Handling has once again seen strong attendance numbers, with 37 people turning up to the Swan Hill Town Hall café to attend the course.

The success of this latest accredited Food Handling course for volunteers comes after the course was successfully held in Robinvale earlier this year.

Presented by Michael Amy and Swan Training, the course is aimed at volunteers who handle food for public consumption and sale, such as in canteens or stalls, of which the Food Handling qualification is a requirement under current legislation.

Council's Volunteer Support Officer Jenny Astall thanked Michael Amy and Swan Training for presenting the course.

“The food handling course is always popular among our volunteers and this recent course was no exception,” Ms Astall said.

“Once again Michael has done an outstanding job in presenting this course and we very much appreciate his and Swan Training's support of the program.”

The next and final course for the 2009 Volunteer Support Training Program will be basic computer skills to be held on the 30 November at the Robinvale Sunraysia Institute of TAFE.

The course will enable volunteers to learn the basics and gain self confidence when operating a computer, including creating and formulating a simple letter or document.

For more information regarding the Volunteer Support Training Program or to book for the Basic Computer Skills course in Robinvale, please call Jenny Astall on 5036 2333.
