Media Release

Robinvale seniors are encouraged to get into the celebrations for Victorian Seniors Festival Week when it gets underway on Tuesday, 29 September with Tenterfield Saddler – the Peter Allen Storybook at the Robinvale Community Centre.

This will be followed by the official opening of Seniors Festival Week on Sunday, 4 October at the Manangatang Public Hall and will feature the Robinvale College Showband with afternoon tea also supplied (admission will be a $2 raffle entry).

Later in the week the entertainment will continue with the Darryl Cotton Show at the Robinvale Community Centre on Thursday, 8 October.

Council's Aged and Disability Social Support Leader Carolyn Harrop said there was plenty happening for Seniors Festival Week and encouraged Robinvale seniors to come along to both performances.

“The Peter Allen Story is a great show celebrating one of Australia's greatest stars and is packed with hit songs by Peter Allen including I go to Rio, Tenterfield Saddler and I still call Australia home,” she said.

“Residents will also get to see one of Australia's most popular and successful entertainers Darryl Cotton, who has had a career spanning more than 30 years in the entertainment industry and has regularly performed with several Australian music legends including Olivia Newton-John, Russell Morris, Ronnie Burns and Jim Keays.

“Darryl is sure to bring a great morning's entertainment to Robinvale for our senior citizens,” Ms Harrop said.

Tickets to Tenterfield Saddler – the Peter Allen Storybook cost just $10, while the Darryl Cotton Show is free, with brunch costing $5.

To book your seats for Tenterfield Saddler or for more information regarding Victorian Seniors Festival Week 2009 please contact Carolyn Harrop on 5036 4700.
