The Go North Arts Festival will take place from Friday, 23 October through to Sunday, 1 November

Media Release

Wednesday, 2 September 2009

If you can sing, dance or act, juggle, whistle or play an instrument, are a dab hand at ventriloquism, can walk on your hands or even on stilts – the Swan Hill Community Performing Arts Committee wants to hear from you for Swan Hill's Got Talent.

As part of the Go North Arts Festival, Swan Hill's Got Talent is an opportunity for community members to showcase their talents – be it wonderful, weird or downright wacky – as well as the chance to win $1000 in the process.

Swan Hill Performing Arts Committee member Claire Glenn encouraged all members of the community, young or old, to fill out the registration form and come along to auditions on Sunday, 25 October.

“Most people have some sort of talent, whether it's in the area of performing arts, a skill they may have acquired or a talent that is unique and off-beat - this is the chance for these people to come forward and show the rest of Swan Hill what they're made of,” Ms Glenn said.

“The Swan Hill Community Performing Arts Committee would love to see a variety of acts come along to the auditions on the 25 October.”

The auditions will take place from 1pm at Swan Hill's Harrison Theatre; the cost is $5 to enter into the competition or $5 to watch the auditions.

From the auditions, 10 finalists will then be selected to take part in the finale on Friday, 30 October at the Swan Hill Town Hall at 7pm (entry to evening will be $10).

“This is not only the chance for someone to win a $1000 but they could also be the next big thing,” Ms Glenn said.

Registration forms for Swan Hill's Got Talent are available from Richardson's Dance School, Strike a Pose, Swan Hill Rural City Council or by emailing performingarts@swanhill.vic.gov.au.

Completed registration forms can be returned to the Swan Hill Rural City Council office in Splatt Street or to PO Box 488, Swan Hill 3585.
