With an array of activities and events to be held throughout the Swan Hill region, this year's Seniors Festival Week is sure to be a highlight on any calendar.
Kicking off on Sunday, 4 October at the Manangatang Public Hall, the 2009 Seniors Festival Week will be officially opened by Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Cr Greg Cruickshank, with the Robinvale Secondary College Showband to provide an afternoon of musical entertainment.
Monday, 5 October will see the Swan Hill RSL Club hosting the Heart of the Murray Day Club Entertainment, including the Catalina Bush Band and a $10 lunch, while on the Tuesday, 6 October movie-lovers will be able to go along to the Grain Shed and watch Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel and enjoy morning tea from 10am.
Following on from the movies that same day, seniors will be able to enjoy the Song in Costume afternoon (starting at 2pm) with the Murray Valley Group of CWA, which will also include afternoon tea.
Getting underway from 10.30am on Wednesday, 7 October, seniors will not only be entertained by Don and Dave at the Swan Hill Town Hall, but will enjoy a light morning tea and hot luncheon.
On Thursday, 8 October Robinvale will then play host to the Darryl Cotton Show at the Robinvale Community Arts Centre.
One of Australia's most popular and successful entertainers, Darryl Cotton has had a career spanning more than 30 years in the entertainment industry and is certain to provide some great entertainment.
A bus from Swan Hill to Robinvale will be available to the Darryl Cotton Show and will be departing from the carpark near the Big Cod at 9.30am at a cost of $10 per person.
Entertainer Brendan Scott will keep the festivities of the 2009 Seniors Festival Week going with his floor show at the Tooleybuc Club on Friday, 9 October from noon (with a $9 discount lunch and free admission to the show). A bus (departing from the carpark near the Big Cod at 11am) will also be available to travel to the show and will cost $7 per person.
Sunday, 11 October will see the 2009 Seniors Festival Week draw to a close with an official closing ceremony and lively country hoedown at the Lake Boga Community Centre from 11am. A barbecue lunch will be on offer for just $5, while entertainment will be provided by the talented Muddy River Fellas, featuring vocalist Sandra Jacobsen.
Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Cr Greg Cruickshank said this year's program offered some great activities and entertainment.

“I encourage our seniors to get out and about and enjoy all the activities and events that this year's program has to offer.”
