Drain pipe cleaning is currently underway in Swan Hill.

Media Release

Friday, 19 March 2010

Swan Hill Rural City Council would like to advise residents that pipe cleaning in Swan Hill is currently underway.

Swan Hill Rural City Council Director Infrastructure David Leahy said the cleaning process ensured pipes remained clear and were able to run the volumes of water they were designed to undertake.

“Currently drainage pipes within Swan Hill are being cleared, with a day in Robinvale scheduled for next week,” Mr Leahy said.

“This year, in line with our water-saving strategies, Council has engaged a contractor with a new state-of-the-art water recycling combination unit, which saves huge amounts of water in comparison to traditional units.

“The continuous water recycling means no downtime and reduced dumping costs due to the liquid volume being reduced.”

It is expected the cleaning of drainage pipes will be completed by the end of next week (Friday, 26 March).
