Sustainable Living in the Mallee (SLIM) and Swan Hill Rural City Council are inviting residents to attend a free information night next Wednesday to learn how to save money on their power bills.
Featuring guest speaker Karen Retra, an energy assessor from Albury, community members will learn how to understand their energy bill and make informed decisions regarding their power use and how to reduce it.
SLIM member Peta Thornton said the information night was a great opportunity to learn how to save money when it comes to power usage.
“Many of us have received our energy bill and then had a very unpleasant surprise when we've seen the cost owing on that bill.
“The information night will not only help you to understand your power bill, but also find a solution that works for you, including identifying opportunities within your home, looking at those big energy users and even small energy items that can add to the cost,” Ms Thornton said.
“The information evening will also discuss solar panels and how to get the best value from this energy source.
“I'm certain our community members will find the evening very informative and the tips from Karen Retra very useful,” Ms Thornton added.
The ‘give your energy bills the chop' information night will take place on Wednesday, 4 August from 6pm at the MacKillop College Parish Function Centre in Splatt Street, Swan Hill.
Attendees are asked to bring along a power bill.
