Following an election promise from the Minister for Agriculture and Member for Swan Hill, Peter Walsh, the Victorian Government has allocated $30,000 to the development of an Economic Development, Tourism and Marketing Strategy for Lake Boga.
Swan Hill Rural City Council has contributed a further $15,000 to the project.
Stakeholder consultation is currently underway. Over the past fortnight the Regional Development Company has conducted a series of one-to-one interviews with key stakeholders within the Lake Boga community.
Susan Benedyka from the Regional Development Company was in Lake Boga last Thursday to expand on interviews already conducted and carry out a group consultation evening with members of the Lake Boga community.
Vice President of Lake Boga Incorporated, Nathan Keighran said discussions were positive and provided an opportunity to prioritise the projects which they saw as key to the future of Lake Boga.
“Lake Boga Incorporated looks forward to supporting through to fruition some of the key projects that are to come out of the Strategy,” said Mr Keighran.
The Strategy will assist the community to determine the direction for future infrastructure development which will support the economic growth of the area.
A draft strategy will be available for public comment early next year.
