There's big news at Performing Arts this week: Swan Hill's Got Talent Entries have been EXTENDED!! You now have until close of business October 12 to get your entries in. So make sure you get into the Council offices, Strike a Pose, Richardson's Dance school or email performingarts@swanhill.vic.gov.au to get your entry form. Remember there is NO age limit and no restrictions on your act (except that it must be safe) so get your entry in NOW and take the opportunity to not only be the best new talent in Swan Hill but also to win $1000!
The Go North Arts Festival is only two weeks away and that means, for Performing Arts, that the 2009 Fairfax Festival is just around the corner. After almost a year of preparation the Fairfax Festival Committee is incredibly excited to be welcoming our 115 students from nine different school groups to Swan Hill to participate in workshops with industry professionals Don Bridges, Olivia Allen and Andrew Gray. The students have also been working on their ten minute performance pieces and these will be shown at the Fairfax Festival Gala at 7pm on the 29th of October. With a focus on story-telling, each performance piece must contain a hero, a chair and diamonds; can only contain 3 props; and must not exceed ten minutes; so the outcome will be a real testament to the skills they develop over the three days of the Festival. You would have seen the ads in the paper, heard the ads on the radio and seen the posters around town so remember to get into the Swan Hill Region Information Centre or call 5036 2444 to book your tickets NOW! Don't miss your opportunity to see the big stars of tomorrow performing today!
