Heritage Room
Our collection of local history is contained in the Heritage Room located within the library building.
The collection contains local historic photographs, books, documents and newspapers which are available for public use within the library. Items may be photocopied.
Donations to this collection are welcome, please contact the library if you have items of local significance which we could include in our collection.
Currently on long term display in the Heritage Room are memorials to the servicemen of the region with their medals.
A microfilm reader is located in the Heritage Room. Its resources include:
The Guardian – from late 1880s to 1965
Ultima and Chillingollah Star – from 1915 to 1951
Nyah and Piangil Times – from 1924 to 1942
The Heritage Room also has a family search and CD-rom computer which is available for public use.

A minimum fee of $10 is payable by non-members. Written research enquiries for non-members are also undertaken, for a minimum fee of $10, plus any costs (e.g. photocopying)

Annual membership fees: Single member $20
Family membership $25
All new members pay an additional joining fee of $10.00.
Mallee Oral History Group
Volunteer members of the Mallee Oral History Group have interviewed more than 160 older residents of the district and recorded their stories on cassette.
This collection is held within the Heritage Room at the library.
Volunteer Val Tillett has transcribed these stories from tape, so that they can be borrowed in book format.
If you know someone who would be a good candidate to be interviewed, or would like to become an interviewer, please contact : Mrs Alison Bennett 5039 2242.
