The aim of Home and Community Care (HACC) funded Domestic Assistance is to provide support to maintain a safe, healthy home environment to enable frail older people and people with disabilities and their carers to live independently at home and in their community.
The service undertakes essential housekeeping tasks that are unable to be carried out by the customer in areas that are regularly used by the client. These areas include bathrooms, toilets, kitchens, living areas and bedrooms.
Assessment will determine tasks required to assist and might include vacuuming or mopping floors, changing bed linen, washing, cleaning the bathroom and toilet and assist with shopping.
Eligibility
When assistance is requested, an appointment will be made for an Assessment Officer to visit in the person's home. A full assessment will identify eligibility, services needs and client abilities. The assessment process includes the client and, if required, their carer or other people as appropriate.
Individuals, their family or other services may refer for services.
Fees
The Assessment Officer will discuss the cost with you during the assessment. Fees are set annually with regard to the recommended fees of the Department of Health's Home and Community Care (HACC) fees.
