Animal control and registration

Swan Hill Rural City Council Authorised Officers perform a range of animal control functions within the municipality.

Restricted breed dog Restricted breed dogs
New legislation now makes it an offence to acquire a restricted breed dog.
Howling dog Barking dogs
Dogs that bark excessively can be a source of great irritation to neighbours.
Agressive dig Dangerous dogs
Owners of dangerous dogs have a range of obligation they are required to meet in order to ensure that people and other animals are protected.
Starving horse Prevention of cruelty to animals
Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Authorised Officers respond to complaints relating to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. 
Livestock control Livestock control
Authorised Officers are responsible for responding to complaints about livestock (ie. cattle and sheep)on road reserves.
Border Collie Responsible pet ownership
It is important that you practice responsible pet ownership at all times. 
Dog and cat Dog and cat registration
All cats and dogs over three (3) months of age must be microchipped and registered with Council.
