Slater Park

Large plantations of indigenous species have been planted throughout the municipality. Plantations at the Swan Hill Landfill and the Ultima Landfill were completed using direct seeding and tube stock in October 2005 with spectacular results.  Planting will continue during the 2006 planting season along roadsides, in landfills and urban parks.

Slater Park is a great example of successful community partnerships. Stakeholders including Mid Murray Landcare Group, Lead On, Envirofund, Swan Hill Rural City Council and the Swan Hill Green Corps Team made this project possible. The once degraded site has been transformed into a unique urban park, providing local residents with a unique thoroughfare. Slater Park is a great example of how native vegetation can be integrated into the urban landscape.
