Health Department
Swan Hill Rural City Council's Health Department provides a variety of health services and information to the public. The team are responsible for enforcing various pieces of legislation including the Public Health & Wellbeing Act 2008, Food Act 1984, Environment Protection Act 1970 and many other related Acts. The health team is located at the Splatt Street Offices in Swan Hill.

Food Act Premises The Environmental Health Officers are responsible for registering Food Premises, inspecting registered premises, conducting food sampling to assess health risks, investigating complaints about food and investigating food poisoning outbreaks. |

Public Health & Wellbeing Premises Information |

Registration Under the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 all prescribed premises must be registered with the relevant Local Government in order to operate. Prescribed premises are the following; Hair Dressing Beauty Therapy or similar business |

Immunisations |
 |
Swan Hill Rural City Council provides immunisations to the public by providing a morning and an evening session each month. Vaccines that are available free of charge are on the National Immunisation Program Schedule found at www.health.vic.gov.au/immunisation |

Noise & Nuisance Complaints |
 |
In conjunction with the Police, Council's Public Health Services is able to investigate complaints relating to noise from residential premises. For complaints after hours all enquiries should be directed to the Police. Apart from noise nuisance, conditions likely to affect health should be referred to the Public Health Services. |

Tobacco Reforms |

The Health Department are responsible for administering the Tobacco Act 1987 in combination with the Department of Human Services (DHS). Regular inspections are conducted on tobacco retailers, restaurants and cafes, licensed premises and gaming venues. |
