Lake Boga foreshore active pathway

A draft Lake Boga foreshore path plan is now available for public comment and Council is encouraging residents to provide feedback.

Planning to extend the active walking path around Lake Boga has been underway since last November, with Council engaging Heil Consulting to work on the project as part of the Lake Boga to Swan Hill Active Trail Project.

The draft suggests a lakeside concrete pathway from the Lake Boga Yacht Club to the Lake Boga Caravan Park, which will incorporate a shared pedestrian and traffic zone along East Lake Road.

Councillor Les McPhee said the draft plans had been shown to key stakeholders for their input, including the yacht club, caravan park, Lake Boga Inc and private landholders along the proposed pathway.

“Some of the comments we have already received have suggested the need to apply common principals to the alignment, design and structure of the proposed path, such as the path being concrete and going along the lake foreshore,” Cr McPhee said.

“Council sees this as an exciting opportunity to upgrade key infrastructure around the lake, ensuring important benefits to the community,” he said.

“The construction of the active path around the lake over the past few years has been an overwhelming success, to both residents and visitors alike.

“These proposed plans will only enhance this, as it will provide the necessary infrastructure to link these paths to the township as well as to visitors at the Caravan Park.”

The draft plan is available below and at the Lake Boga News agency. Please contact Amanda Young at the Economic Development Unit on 5032 3033 or ayoung@swanhill.vic.gov.au with your comments. Feedback will be collected until Friday, 19 June.
