Safety work will be done on the Swan Hill Burke and Wills tree this week to ensure public safety and to assess the tree’s health.
The large Moreton Bay Fig on Curlewis Street has been under ongoing stress following prolonged dry periods over the past few years
Council’s Director Development and Planning Brett Luxford said this Thursday, 25 June, contractors would prune dead wood from the tree to ensure public safety.
“A qualified arborist will also be on-site to supervise the pruning, and at the same time assess the tree’s health and determine requirements to keep it as healthy as possible,” he said.
The work will take place between 8am and 4pm. The north bound lane and car parking on Curlewis Street might be affected, as well as access to the Commercial Hotel car park. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to take care in the area and to follow requests from traffic management staff.
