New summer opening hours now apply to the Manangatang, Ultima and Piangil transfer stations.
Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Director Infrastructure Svetla Petkova said changes have been made to ensure the safety of transfer station staff.
“The transfer stations are not connected to power or water, which makes it very uncomfortable for staff in summer, and can actually be risky for their health,” Ms Petkova said.
“The summer hours will mean that transfer stations will open mornings instead of afternoons, hopefully avoiding the hottest part of the day and ensuring these communities still have access to these facilities during the cooler part of the day.”
The summer opening hours will be reviewed as the cooler months approach.
