Cat and dog registrations are due on 10 April and Swan Hill Rural City is once again urging pet owners to ensure their animals are registered.
Council’s Public Health and Regulatory Services Co-ordinator Trish Ficarra said dogs and cats must be registered under state law.
“All dogs and cats over the age of three months must be microchipped and registered with Council,” Ms Ficarra said.
“Microchipping your pet and having it registered is one of the best ways to ensure you can be reunited with your dog or cat if it gets lost,” she said.
“If you are registering your pet for the first time, it must be microchipped before Council can register it – you can have your pet microchipped through your vet.
“Pet owners are eligible for a reduced fee if their animal is desexed, however a desexing certificate must be supplied with the registration form.
Pet registration notices have now been sent to all registered pet owners, and are due on 10 April. A $24 late payment fee and further fines can apply. Bpay and Post Billpay payments cannot be accepted after the due date.
