Do you know someone that deserves to be recognised for their significant contributions?
Why don’t you nominate them for an Australia Day Award?
Nominations are now open for the 2021 Australia Day Local Government Awards.
Council is encouraging residents to nominate local community members and groups for their contributions and achievements within their communities.
Nominations will close at 5pm on Thursday, 19 November for all three categories:
- Australia Day Citizen Award – A person who has succeeded in a significant individual achievement or a number of service activities over a significant period of years
- Australia Day Young Citizen Award – A person under the age of 30 years on 26 January 2021 who has attained an outstanding personal achievement or provided a significant contribution to the community.
- Community Event of the Year Award – To a person, group of people or organisation that has succeeded in a particular achievement, service, special event, or valuable contribution within the local community during the past year.
Swan Hill Rural City Council CEO, John McLinden said Council was looking forward to celebrating the achievements of individuals and organisations, following the difficult year.
“Every year we are amazed by the efforts of people within our community. These nominations are such a wonderful example of people working to make the lives of others in our community better whilst making our communities and clubs stronger,” he said.
“Anyone can nominate a person or event that they believe deserves recognition, so if you have someone in mind, please jump online or get in touch to nominate them,” he added.
Awards will be presented on Australia Day in January 2021.
