Community groups now have more time to apply for up to $5,000 from Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Community Grants program.
Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Director Development and Planning, Heather Green said the application period had been extended due to the recent lockdown and current COVID-19 restrictions.
Applications will now close on Monday, 12 July at 5pm.
“The Community Development Fund assists eligible community groups and organisations to undertake a variety of projects.
“We have adopted some changes to the program this year. The main change will see community groups receive grant funding up front and not have to carry the financial burden until their projects are finished. This will allow for a more equitable distribution of community grants,” Ms Green said.
Ms Green said Council hoped the grants program would make a big difference to local clubs and communities and enable improved community facilities across the municipality.
“Last year, twenty-two community groups shared in over $70,000 for building updates, new equipment, and program support.
“Funding went to diverse projects from right across our municipality.
Ms Green encouraged all groups and organisations to consider applying this year.
“Grants like this support community groups and organisations to undertake projects and activities that encourage participation in social activities, improve our local facilities and contribute to the wellbeing of our community,” she said.
