Official Opening – Hope Aged Care

I had the pleasure recently of attending the new Hope Aged Care facility in Swan Hill. A journey that Council has been engaged with from the beginning – from the planning stages, to turning a sod in 2018 and to now, the official opening.

This incredible facility has a specialised Memory Support Unit, and for those that know a little of our families story, you’ll know how tremendous I find this for our region.

My maternal grandmother suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for many years and as long as we could, she lived at home with us in Woorinen.

But, when the time came that Mum and Dad could no longer sustain the level of care required, the closest available care for someone suffering from this awful disease at that time, was Northaven in Kerang.

To have a memory support unit in Swan Hill is quite simply life changing for families going through this.

Although open for a mere 12 months, 55 residents now call Hope Aged Care home, what a credit to the team and the services Hope Aged Care offer.

Thank-you very much for the invite and asking me to say a few words at your wonderful facility.
