Libraries to help local residents Get Online!

Now’s the time to get online with ‘Get Online Week 2022’ being held from 17-21 October.

The annual campaign aims to support local residents that are not online, through digital skills mentoring events.

Swan Hill Rural City Council Libraries Manager, Camille Cullinan said Swan Hill Regional Library is getting involved in the digital inclusion campaign by hosting several activities during Get Online Week.

“Digital skills are now essential for wellbeing, safety and participating in day to day activities such as accessing government and health services, paying bills, online shopping, social interaction, applying for jobs and many more,” Ms Cullinan said.

Ms Cullinan said the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the risks associated with digital exclusion.

“The library is looking forward to getting involved this year more than ever.

“Our activities will include using ipads, managing security and passwords, family history searching, telehealth and virtual storytelling.

Ms Cullinan said that our library services are aiming to help our community stay connected and be comfortable using online devices, resources and services.

“People needing support to learn digital skills can find a local Get Online Week event by contacting Good Things Foundation on 1300 795 897 or visit Get Online Week.
