Calling all local businesses – we want to hear from you!

Swan Hill Rural City Council is inviting business to have their say on the direction of our region’s economy.

Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Economic and Community Development Manager Dennis Hovenden said the survey data, along with information received through industry workshops, would be used to guide the direction for a new regional Economic Development Strategy.

“Business and industry input will be critical if we are to develop a meaningful Economic Development Strategy for the Swan Hill municipality.

“In addition to the online survey, our Economic Development team will also be conducting business visits and hosting industry-specific workshops, facilitated by a business consultant.

“We understand businesses find it difficult to attend scheduled workshops and industry sessions, and as such, we will be engaging with businesses in the comfort and convenience of their own premises,” he said.

Mr Hovenden said that the Business survey includes investigating industry specific strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, as well as providing an opportunity to comment on the future direction of the region over the next 5 years, 10 years and beyond.

“These are just some of the items that we are seeking feedback on and giving businesses the opportunity to either discuss their ideas in a friendly and relaxed one on one environment, or via the online survey.

“We are looking to obtain as much industry feedback and input as we can,” he said.

Mr Hovenden said there was even an incentive for businesses to get involved.

“Businesses that complete the survey and go in the draw to win their choice of either $250 swan hill gift card or REBA (Robinvale Euston Business Association) gift card.

Council is developing the Economic Development Strategy to set clear direction for economic development, employment growth and opportunities for businesses over the next five years and beyond.

Council will be working in conjunction with Robinvale Euston Business Association (REBA) to conduct business sessions in Robinvale.

All businesses are invited to complete the survey.
