Council Youth Officers recognised

Swan Hill Rural City Council is delighted to have two of their Youth Support Officers as finalists in the 2022 YACVic Rural Youth Awards.

Will Burns, based in Swan Hill is a finalist in multiple categories – both the ‘Young People Leading Change’ and ‘Youth Workers Making a Difference’ categories of the awards, for a sexual reproductive health and healthy relationships program, during the peak of COVID-19 lockdowns.

Jess Kei, based in Robinvale is a finalist in the ‘Young People Leading Change’ category and Robinvale Youth Group is a finalist in the ‘Outstanding Youth Projects’ category.

Director Community and Cultural Services, Bruce Myers said the recognition was a real credit to Council’s Youth Service’s team.

“Council is delighted to see our staff leading the way and establishing outstanding youth projects and programs.

“We are proud of the impact that our support officers are having to the lives of young people in our municipality – seeing their efforts being recognised is humbling,” Mr Myers said.

The awards ceremony is set to be held on Tuesday, 13 December 2022.
