Young people aged between 8 to 14 years and their caregivers are invited to attend the FREE screening of Embrace Kids on Wednesday, 15 January, at 7pm at the Swan Hill Regional Library.
Embrace Kids is a powerful documentary that explores body image from the perspective of youth and encourages young people to embrace their true selves.
Body image advocate, Taryn Brumfitt, the 2023 Australian of the Year, created Embrace Kids to empower young individuals to believe in themselves and take pride in who they are.
Swan Hill Regional Libraries Manager, Camille Cullinan, expressed her enthusiasm about bringing this FREE documentary to Swan Hill during the summer school holidays.
“We are thrilled to present this fun and empowering film to our young people. It’s an opportunity to help them explore and celebrate what makes them unique.”
“The documentary is filled with fun and aims to empower young people to embrace their identities. It serves as a chance to inspire young minds to discover their inner spark that sets them apart,” she added.
Ms. Cullinan encourages parents and caregivers to bring their children and teens aged between 8 to 14 years to view this inspiring documentary, which encourages conversations about body image and self-acceptance.
“Embrace Kids teaches us that the first step in changing the world is changing our mindset, and this is a perspective that kids and their caregivers can adopt together,” she explained.
Along with Chico the family dog, Taryn is joined by some of her celebrity friends, including Celeste Barber, Jameela Jamil, Electric Fields, Erin Phillips, and Amy Sheppard, who contribute to a collection of stories designed to inspire and entertain.
The documentary addresses the significant challenges faced by young people today, including body image, gender stereotyping, disability, and inclusivity.
