The Ultima Transfer Station will benefit from a new entrance to better serve both the Transfer Station and new Ultima Compost Facility.
Council’s acting Director Infrastructure Laura O’Dwyer said the forthcoming entrance, approved by Department Transport, will replace the current dirt road access, offering a substantial improvement to existing infrastructure.
“As part of the transition, the Transfer Station will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
“This closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of the new entrance and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
“The Transfer Station is scheduled to resume operations on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
“Throughout this period, construction activities will continue internally to establish the compost facility, with an anticipated completion date set for October 2024,” Ms O’Dwyer said.
Ms O’Dwyer said residents could rest assured that construction efforts would not impact public access to the Transfer Station following the short closure period.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of the Ultima Transfer Station. Any residents that require urgent disposal services during this period are encouraged to utilise the Swan Hill Landfill site,” she said.
