Littering and illegal dumping

Victorians generate 14,560 tonnes of litter every year. This equates to almost 3kg of litter per person every year.

Our municipality is fortunate be situated on a beautiful part of northern Victoria, with the Murray River and lakes district right on our doorstep.

To protect our unique environment for generations to come, Council’s Authorised Officers undertake a proactive compliance and investigation program to ensure littering offences are reduced.

If you’re found guilty of a littering you may be issued with an on-the-spot fine. Fines for littering can range from $370 to $740.
