Swan Hill Rural City Council and the Residents & Ratepayers Association are encouraging a respectful and constructive discussion at the upcoming Residents & Ratepayers Association forum, which will focus on the future options for of the Swan Hill Regional Livestock Exchange.

Some Councillors will attend the forum scheduled for Tuesday, 6 May to support the Residents & Ratepayers Association and to listen to the views of those present.

Mayor Cr Stuart King highlighted that no decisions have been made in relation to the Swan Hill Regional Livestock Exchange.

Council’s Mayor, Cr Stuart King, will speak on the night to provide background on the review and outline the process Council is undertaking. The Council will be limited in their ability to answer questions during the event but are interested to hear from the community.

Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Mayor, Cr Stuart King, said Council was still in the process of collating information from more than 450 submissions and is preparing its next steps, which will include a Council-led community briefing, or the like, at a date to be confirmed.

Cr King said the Strategic Review report remains available on Council’s website.

“The report provides a detailed snapshot of the saleyards’ operations and outlines a range of management options — from continuing current operations, exploring leasing models, or ceasing operations entirely. Council welcomes innovative solutions for the future of the Livestock Exchange,” he said.

Cr King assured residents that Council would continue to update the community as the review progresses.
