Community groups and event organisers across the Swan Hill Rural City municipality will receive a boost, with $75,000 in funding approved through Swan Hill Rural City Council’s 2026/2027 Community Grants Program.
Council has approved $45,000 through the Development Support Grant, supporting 13 community organisations to deliver projects that will strengthen facilities, purchase essential equipment, improve safety, deliver new activities and create benefits for local communities.
A further $30,000 has been allocated through the Event Support Grant to help community groups and event organisers deliver a diverse range of events across the municipality.
Swan Hill Rural City Council Acting Director Development and Planning Dennis Hovenden said the grants would help local organisations deliver projects and events that bring people together and contribute to vibrant, connected communities.
“Local community groups and event organisers play an important role in making our municipality such a great place to live, work and visit,” Mr Hovenden said.
“Council’s Community Grants Program provides practical support to help organisations achieve their goals, strengthen their operations and deliver projects and events that benefit the wider community.”
Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Stuart King said it was fantastic to see the program supporting a diverse range of initiatives across the municipality.
“It is fantastic to see the range of projects and events being supported across the municipality, from Swan Hill and Lake Boga through to Piangil, Nyah West, Speewa and Robinvale,” Cr King said.
“These grants provide an important opportunity for local organisations to turn their ideas into action and create positive outcomes for their communities.”
The 13 successful Development Support Grant applicants will contribute approximately $65,000 through cash, in-kind contributions, sponsorship and other funding, leveraging Council’s $45,000 investment to deliver at least $110,000 worth of community projects by the end of May 2027.
The Event Support Grant provides funding and in-kind support for events that deliver economic or social benefits, encourage visitation, support growth and innovation, or introduce new and innovative elements.
