Swan Hill Rural City Council is calling on residents, workers, students and visitors to help identify where new or improved walking paths and pedestrian crossings are needed across the municipality.
Council is seeking community feedback to better understand where gaps exist in the current walking and cycling network, identify safety concerns and prioritise future improvements across local townships.
Mayor Cr Stuart King said local knowledge was invaluable when planning safer and more accessible ways for people to move around their communities.
“Whether you're walking to school, riding to work, heading to the shops or simply enjoying a walk around your neighbourhood, we want to hear about the areas that could be improved.
“Our community knows where the missing footpaths are, which crossings feel unsafe and where better connections could make everyday journeys easier.
“By sharing your experiences and ideas, you can help us identify the improvements that matter most and guide future planning and investment,” Cr King said.
Council’s Director of Infrastructure, Leah Johnston said Council was particularly interested in hearing about locations where footpaths are missing, damaged or difficult to access, as well as areas where new or improved pedestrian crossings could make walking and riding safer.
“Small improvements can make a big difference, particularly for families with young children, older residents and people with mobility challenges.” she said.
Cr King encouraged people of all ages and abilities to have their say.
“We want to make it safer, easier and more enjoyable for everyone to get around our towns,” he said.
Feedback will help inform future priorities and planning for walking and pedestrian infrastructure across the municipality.
The survey will remain open until Friday, 20 November 2026.
