Swan Hill Rural City Council has secured $125,000 through the Victorian Government’s Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program 2025-26 to deliver important new footpath connections in Piangil.
The project will deliver approximately 336 metres of new and upgraded footpath infrastructure to improve safe pedestrian access between key community facilities including the CFA, RSL, service station/shop, Australia Post, public toilets and Piangil Memorial Park.

Mayor Cr Stuart King said the project would make a significant difference for local residents and visitors.
“In a small community like Piangil, many people rely on walking to access important services and community spaces.
“These new footpaths will make it safer and easier for people to move around town and stay connected to the places that matter most,” Cr King said.
The project is expected to commence soon, with tenders to be advertised in the coming weeks and construction scheduled to begin in September, subject to contractor availability and relevant approvals.
