The Swan Hill Planning Scheme controls land use and development within our municipality. It contains State and local planning policies, zones and overlays and other provisions that affect how land can be used and developed.

Council has the authority to amend the planning scheme to achieve preferred planning outcomes or to align with new policy directions. These changes, referred to as amendments, are guided by the process outlined in the Planning and Environment Act 1987 (the Act). An amendment can involve modifications to the planning scheme map, such as rezoning, adjustments to the written components of the scheme, or both.
