Transport for NSW is planning to build a new bridge between Murray Downs in NSW and Swan Hill in Victoria.
Transport for NSW has released the Swan Hill Bridge replacement project’s preferred options report, outlining the findings of the strategic study into a new bridge at Swan Hill. The report details investigations, key criteria and the option selection process for the preferred alignments to replace the bridge on the McCallum Street corridor.
Go to nswroads.work/swanhill to read the full preferred options report online.
The study confirms:
- The existing bridge must be fully removed
- Options that impact local landmarks or occupy sensitive land are not preferred
Since community consultation in 2021, Transport has continued planning and investigation work, including:
- Evaluating bridge alignments
- Investigating environmental, heritage and site constraints
- Carrying out constructability and economic assessments of each option
- Preparing the next phase of concept design and environmental assessment
