Citizen of the Year: Vicki Allen

Vicki Allen has been awarded the Australia Day Citizen of the Year for 2025 for her dedication to community service and commitment to the municipality. Described by AFL Victoria in 2024 as "One of the best from Nyah West," Vicki has made a lasting impact on the Nyah District. A life member of the Nyah-Nyah West United Football and Netball Club, she has dedicated over 30 years to the club, including 25 years as Secretary. Vicki's leadership extends to organising events like the Nyah District Christmas Carnival and the Nyah Fishing Competition. Her efforts in local projects, such as the redevelopment of Nyah West Park and the Blue Tree Project, showcase her commitment to improving local facilities. Vicki's extensive community involvement includes roles with Neighbourhood Watch, the Nyah District Hostel Committee, and the Red Cross Blood Bank Unit. Her dedication has earned her numerous accolades, including the 2025 Swan Hill Rural City Council Australia Day Citizen of the Year. Congratulations, Vicki.

Community Event of the Year: Robinvale Centenary Celebrations

The Robinvale Centenary Committee has been awarded the Australia Day Community Event of the Year for 2024. The Swan Hill Rural City Council recognises the Robinvale Centenary Celebrations as an extraordinary five-day event that united the community in celebrating its 100-year history. After 22 months of planning, the committee delivered a memorable event for residents, ex-locals, and visitors. Highlights included a Centenary Golf Day, school open mornings, a barbecue at “The Cliffs,” a buffet dinner with cultural performances, an old-fashioned street parade, Tiger Moth flights, and a free outdoor concert. The event concluded with church services, tree planting, and a time capsule burial. The dedication and hard work of the Robinvale Centenary Committee brought the community together to reflect on its history, celebrate its growth, and look toward its future. Congratulations to the Robinvale Centenary Committee on this outstanding achievement!
