Proactive road maintenance
Council contractors have been kept busy completing various crack sealing projects. Crack sealing helps extend the life of road pavements by preventing water ingress and damage, reducing further cracking, and delaying costly repairs. It’s a smart, cost-effective way to maintain smoother, safer roads.
- Tresco West Road Upgrade - complete. Works included widening and rehabilitating approximately 360 metres of road.
- Urban Street preventative maintenance.
- Milloo Street shared path rejuvenation.
- Airport Runway works.
Improving safety and access
- Our road maintenance team is currently resheeting unsealed roads to improve safety, access, and ride quality—especially for our rural and farming communities.
- The Nyah Community Centre change room refurbishments are well underway.
- A disused storage room at the RSL Cricket Club Rooms at Gurnett Oval in Swan Hill is currently being converted into an accessible toilet.
Playgrounds, playgrounds and more playgrounds
The council is making significant strides in renewing and improving playgrounds to create fun, safe spaces for families. Highlights include:
- Woorinen South Playground renewal: Following recent community consultation, the results are in for the Woorinen South Playground renewal - with 129 votes (64.82%) for playground option 1, the community showed a clear preference (53.3%) for vibrant, bold colours.
- Adams Park Pplayground renewal: New elements have been installed to replace aging equipment.
- Robinvale Nature and Adventure Playground: This project is proudly funded by the Victorian Government, via Regional Development Victoria and the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.
- Joe Crowe Playground: Shade installation has been completed, providing much-needed protection for year-round enjoyment.
In the works
The old diving platforms at the Swan Hill Outdoor Pool have been demolished to make way for competitionstandard, fully retractable replacements, providing swimmers with modern, high quality facilities for practice.
