School Holiday Fun Across the Municipality
There's something for everyone these school holidays, with a packed program of events and activities across the municipality.
Highlights include:
Celebrate NAIDOC Week
Join the community in celebrating NAIDOC Week with a range of activities recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
Events include:
- Kids Disco for primary school students.
- Youth Ball for secondary school students.
- Community Basketball Day, celebrating culture, connection and sport.

Yamagata Student Exchange 2027
Registrations are now open for the 2027 Yamagata Student Exchange Program! Open to Year 8–11 students (in 2027) living in the Swan Hill municipality, this exciting opportunity offers a unique cultural experience, lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.
Applications close Friday, 3 July 2026.
Photography Competition Now Open
Show us the beauty of our region! Entries are now open for Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Photography Competition.
Submit your best local photographs for the chance to feature on the cover of the 2025/26 Annual Report and be part of a community exhibition at the library.
Entries close 5pm, Friday 31 July 2026.

Future Councillors Take Over the Chambers
There was a buzz in the Council Chambers recently as seven Student Councillors and a Student CEO from St Mary’s Primary School Swan Hill took part in a Mock Council Meeting. Paired with elected Councillors and mentored by CEO Scott Barber, students explored how Council works while sharing ideas on topics close to them — from homework and skate parks to what makes a great community.
The session was a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, have their voices heard and experience leadership in action. The future looks bright!
