Identify Australian plague locusts

Australian plague locusts can vary in colour from green to brown or grey.

Adult locusts have:

• Red hind legs.
• A dark spot on the tip of each hind wing.
• A body length of approximately 25 to 45 mm.

Young locusts, known as hoppers, do not have wings and can gather in groups called bands.
