Swan Hill Rural City Council is inviting landowners, investors and community members interested in residential development opportunities to attend an upcoming Small-Scale Residential Development Workshop in Swan Hill.
Event details:
Date: Thursday 21 May
Time: 12:00pm – 1:30pm
Venue: Swan Hill Tourism and Cultural Experience Centre - Monash Drive, Swan Hill
Council Mayor, Stuart King said the workshop would focus on practical opportunities to increase housing supply through secondary dwellings (granny flats), infill housing, duplexes and other small-scale residential developments.
Cr King said Council is being proactive in responding to the significant and well-recognised shortage of local housing options across the municipality, and this workshop is another practical initiative aimed at helping unlock more diverse and achievable housing supply.
“Attendees will hear from a range of industry specialists covering planning requirements, housing market trends, finance pathways and construction considerations, providing valuable insights for anyone considering a residential development project,” Cr King said.
The workshop will feature an experienced panel of presenters, including Katie Xiao from Independent Planning Advice, architect Nathan Porter, financial adviser Shane Graham, and Cameron Smits from Ray White, who will provide insights into local housing demand and market trends.
Cr King said the session was designed to help people better understand the opportunities and processes involved in small-scale housing developments.
“With increasing demand for housing across the region, small-scale residential developments can play an important role in creating more housing options for our community.
“This workshop will provide practical advice and information for anyone interested in building a secondary dwelling, developing an investment property, or exploring infill housing opportunities,” he said.
Eligible participants will also have the opportunity to access up to $4,000 worth of free planning and architectural advice to help progress their project ideas.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in one-on-one discussions with presenters following the workshop.
Places are limited and bookings are essential, with lunch provided by Spoons Riverside
The event is being hosted by Regional Housing Victoria as part of ongoing efforts to support housing growth and investment opportunities across regional communities.
