Swan Hill Rural City Council is proud to announce more than $107,000 in support for community events across the region as part of the 2025 - 26 Event Support Fund.
Council’s Event Support Fund program recognises the important role that events play in enriching community life, boosting the local economy, and attracting visitors to our towns and rural communities. Through a mix of financial support and logistical assistance, the fund helps new and existing events deliver positive social and economic outcomes.
Mayor Cr Stuart King said Council was delighted to back a broad mix of events that reflect the diversity and vibrancy of the municipality.
“Events bring our community together, create great memories, and contribute significantly to our local economy. From grassroots gatherings to large-scale festivals, this funding helps event organisers cover essential costs and ensure their events are safe, inclusive and successful,” Cr King said.
Cr King said this year’s funding will support long-standing celebrations such as New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Lake Boga, the Swan Hill Region Food & Wine Festival, and a range of Christmas events in Nyah, Robinvale-Euston and Wemen. New and returning events including the Brew & Chew Festival, Banquet - A Masquerade of Art and Espresso, and the SHAC Inaugural ABA 3-Day Archery Event, all set to benefit.
“We’re proud to support a range of sporting tournaments like the Swan Hill Little Athletics Open Day, Robinvale Lawn Tennis Club’s Easter Tournament, and the SHBA Veterans Tournament. We’re also backing much-loved cultural and family events, from the Speewa Swap Meet and Lake Boga Bank 2 Bank to the vibrant Mallee Almond Blossom Festival - and many more that bring our communities together,” Cr King said.
Cr King said that in addition to cash sponsorships, many event organisers receive help with traffic management, venue hire, road signage, cleaning, and other key services to support successful delivery.
“We’re committed to investing in events that help our communities thrive - socially, culturally and economically.
“We extend our thanks to all the volunteers, clubs and organisations who will bring these events to life and we look forward to another exciting year of community celebrations,” he said.
