Swan Hill Rural City Council is inviting the community to help shape its financial future, with consultation now open ahead of the development of a draft 10-Year Financial Plan.

Council’s interim Director Corporate Services, Peter Brown said that under the Local Government Act, Council was required to prepare a long-term Financial Plan to guide how the priorities and actions in the Council Plan were funded - ensuring alignment with broader Community Vision.

“Our 10-Year Financial Plan will allocate funding for major initiatives based on priorities identified by the community through the Council Plan and Community Vision, and ensure long-term funding for essential services,” Mr Brown said.

Mayor Cr Stuart King said the plan plays a vital role in Council’s ability to deliver services and infrastructure while maintaining financial sustainability.

“Our Financial Plan sets the foundation for how we manage resources responsibly over the next decade.

“It ensures that we’re planning ahead, living within our means, and investing in the projects and services that matter the most to our community,” he said.

Cr King invited community members to share their feedback and ideas by completing a short online survey.

“We’ve heard what’s important to you via our Council Plan and Community Vision community consultation and engagement sessions and now, we'd like you to prioritise these via our survey and we will look to address them via our Financial Plan.

“Our survey is now open until Friday, 8 August and it includes an interactive activity in which residents can allocate funding to the service that matter the most to them,” Cr King said.
