You may need copies of building plans or other building documents to help prepare designs for new building work, garages or other outbuildings on your property. You can also request pool registration/compliance letters that Council have previously sent you in the past.
Plans and permits are the property of the owner. If you are not the property owner, your application must include written consent from the current owner(s) authorising you to inspect these documents, in accordance with the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations and the Information Privacy Act.

Drainage or sewerage plans
It It is unlikely our building files will contain information relating to drainage, sewerage, plumbing or electrical plans specifically for your site. Please visit Before You Dig Australia to get underground asset plans.

What happens next?
We will send you an email receipt to confirm your application has been received.
You will then be contacted by email to:
- advise you if the requested records are not available
- arrange payment of the applicable fee (depending on whether files are stored on-site or off-site)
Requested documents will be provided by email within 14 days, subject to payment and any required archive retrieval.
