Swan Hill Rural City Council is reminding residents of the importance of presenting kerbside bins correctly, following an increase in missed collections and non-compliance notices across the municipality.
Council’s Director Infrastructure, Leah Johnston said if your bin has recently been missed or tagged with a non-compliance sticker, there may be a simple explanation.
“Bins can be left uncollected for several reasons if they do not meet collection requirements.
“One of the most common issues currently being identified is overly heavy green waste bins. Bins must not exceed the maximum weight limit of 75kg. As a general guide, if you cannot easily manoeuvre your bin with one hand, it may be too heavy for the collection truck to safely lift and empty,” she said.
To ensure your bin is collected, residents are encouraged to follow these simple guidelines:
After collection, bins must be returned to your property as soon as practicable.
If your bin is overweight, overfull or contaminated, Council’s collection contractor will place a sticker or tag on the bin to explain the issue.
